You take the good, you take the bad...

The good news: I arrived at the Road's End wilderness permit station in plenty of time to get my permit.  (Good thing I did, too.  There were three of us who were there at 1pm, when they start issuing the permits, and they only give out five walk-ups per day!)

The bad news: There is no bad news! The park is gorgeous, and I'm ready to go in the morning.  Can't wait to test myself against nature and the elements, and leave all thoughts of my urban life behind for a few days.

So why the title for this post?  Well, I looked at the trailhead map and saw Charlotte Lake right next to Rae Lakes, so of course the theme song to "The Facts Of Life" started going through my head.  Over and over.  Shout-out to Mrs. Garrett!

There's no cell phone reception inside the park, so I won't be able to post along the way, but I'll be journaling along the way, so I'm sure I'll have plenty of retroactive posts to share once I get home.

Wish me luck... just not in the traditional theater way, because a broken leg would be the last thing I'd want.
